Any personal observations concerning attracting indigo buntings to backyards? What are they drawn to?

I don't know what a tds'er or an SDE is, but then I don’t see what's political about MikeinPA's comment either. House Sparrows and House Wrens will indeed occupy any nesting opportunities they can find.

Describe your first time seeing a Pileated Woodpecker

It's a male but not because of the cap or lack of strap. Males have the red moustache at the base of the bill, like this bird. On females, that streak is black.

Any personal observations concerning attracting indigo buntings to backyards? What are they drawn to?

Down South I see them far more often at weedy fields than at feeders.

    Passerine? Falcon? Bath, England

I'm going to tag the photo as 'Spotted Flycatcher (Tentative)" and not included it on that day's checklist. Thanks, everyone!

    Passerine? Falcon? Bath, England

Sorry, that's it. Later today I'll add the uncropped original. Maybe seeing the full size of the tree will help. At least two people on another site also think Spotted Flycatcher. Passerine? Falcon? Bath, England Thanks for all the feedback so far!

    Passerine? Falcon? Bath, England

May 27, 2023. Northeast of Bath between the River Avon and the Kennet & Avon canal. Clear, warm day with light wind. Other than passerine or falcon, I don't have much of a guess. I fired off a shot at the distant perched bird. Someone in the group probably identified it but I was overwhelmed...

    Bird of prey? Bath, England

Sorry, this is the only photo that happened to include this bird. And no, I don't mind you lightening it. There were Pied Wagtails in the area. I can be satisfied with that identification, or even with Peregrine. I have solid lifer photos of both of those species from earlier in the week. I...

    Bird of prey? Bath, England

May 27, 2023. Northeast of Bath between the River Avon and the Kennet & Avon canal. Clear, warm day with light wind. I was trying to get photos of active swallows. When I was reviewing the photos, I noticed this in the background. Accipiter? Falcon? Thanks for any help.

    Another small passerine, Bath, England

I have photos of a couple of other Dunnocks from this trip, ones that are more clearly Dunnocks. I'm not disagreeing with you, but that's certainly a bland little bird. Thanks!

    Another small passerine, Bath, England

Sydney Gardens, a park with open grassy areas, a few isolated trees, and many trees with substantial shrubs around them. May 27th, around 0900. Clear and warm, around 20C / 70F. Small bird, a uniform gray on all body parts visible in the photos; darker gray legs and a bill suited to an...

Domesticated duck gone wild? Central Gulf Coast Florida

It's a domestic variety of Mallard. If you want to report it on eBird, choose 'Mallard (domestic)'.

    Small passerine, Bath, England

26 May 2023, around 0800 on a clear, breezy day, roughly 18C / 64F. The bird was perched in the top of a large deciduous tree, roughly 25 feet up, in downtown Bath, England. It made little movement beyond grooming. If it called or sang, I didn't hear it over the wind and traffic. It remained...
