Great Blue Heron Arthur Is the Great Blue Heron not a common bird in your part of the country. We have quite a few here and they are always fun to see. It seems like they are just flying along and observing the world.

Arthur It seems like the birds are not moving as much in the summer, maybe it has to do with migration. I have not noticed as many birds moving in this part of the country lately either. I would still think a nice walk in the park is an enjoyable day.

Park Arthur My daughter and son in law were in your home town last week and got to Central Park. They were quite impressed with the park and even got to see a Falcon. I had told them to check out the birding and I think it was the last item on their list but even so they were quite impressed...

Arthur With the completion at Central Park Lake will all the construction projects be done in the park? The cedar waxwing is a very interesting bird and I don't know if we have those birds in our area. We have been very hot for the last few days but it sounds like the weather is going to break...

Arthur Happy birthday one day late Arthur. We get a lot of opportunities to see the red winged blackbirds.

Pale Male Arthur It does seem like that would qualify for a good day. Was Pale Male the hawk that had it's nest removed and didn't it create a controversy, about whether the nest should have or shouldn't have been removed?

Do you have grosbeaks around your area as regulars or do you think it is lost? We have quite a few around here this time of the year. It sounds like your construction project is going okay?

How local is your local patch?

I guess my local patch would be my backyard where I feed a few birds and get to observe them. At different times I get out and travel around a bit but most of my birding is done right out the window. I do enjoy it but should try to venture a little farther away sometimes.

I would keep the feeder out there and with some patience you will get them back. They also like grape jelly if you are able to put any of that out. Good luck

That is a nice picture of the oriole. I too feed them and usually have a hard time getting pictures. I did manage to get a couple today but they were the first pictures of the year.

Many of our trees are in bloom and we have many of our flowers are blooming. We are awaiting for our first Baltimore Orioles as May 1st is about the time of the year we can expect them. The hummingbirds are also right around the corner. Arthur how long is it going to take for the construction of...

Rain Arthur Weren't they in the process of doing some draining in order to do some dredgeing and cleaning in a couple areas of the park? Maybe they were done but with the little bit of time I would imagine this moisture has set them back. I bet you didn't need the binoculars to see the junco...

Arthur Was the ring necked pheasant a lost bird or do you have some that live around the park. I guess I have never read anything from you about a pheasant. Either way I bet it was quite a sight. Did the lady get a good picture?

I don't think we get the chance to see the Flycatcher or the Eastern Phoebe in this part of the country. The pigeons, house sparrows and the grackles are certainly nuisance birds around here too. The Canada goose although pretty in the right environment has become quite a nuisance bird here also...
