    Minox 10x42 BD BR A.L.T

Very good binos. One thing that is not often mentioned is how easy they are to hold for extended periods. ranburr

What do you keep in the glove box?

No joke. I don't need "a single handgun". But, I have lots of needs for the 60 or so handguns in my collection. Incidentally, I am lawfully licensed to carry a handgun. I also have lots of optics. :t: ranburr

    Barska's?

I have never found a Barska product of even decent quality. Also, everyone of their products has that offensive odor that you mention. They used to advertise themselves as Russian optics, but the had made in china stamped on them. ranburr

I have always found Minox products to be an excellent balance of price versus quality. ranburr

    How good are Galileo zooms?

Unfortuneately, there is not yet a zoom binocular that is not more or less a gimmick. Before anyone mentions it, the Leica is not a true zoom. I would love to find a quality high power zoom bino that I could use instead of a spotting scope. It just does not exist. ranburr

    8x?, still can't decide...

That is a great deal. If I were in the market for new binos, I would grab up several pair at that price. ranburr

    8x?, still can't decide...

If you want a good deal on a quality 8x42 roof prism, look at the Docter offering. Cabela's has these on sale right now for $579.00. This is a great deal on a very good bino. ranburr

Minox BD 8.5x43 BR Asph. Argon filled etc.

Strange, I have found just the opposite to be true of the 10x42s. I have used Minox primarily in bright and sunny TX. They have performed great. It is strange that you mention the Docter 15x60 vs the Minox 15x58. I made the opposite switch that you did. I found that the Docters and Minox...

Minox BD 8.5x43 BR Asph. Argon filled etc.

It compares very well with the Meopta. It is almost a carbon copy of performance to similar offerings from Kahles and Docter. ranburr

    Docter

I was basing my statement on a direct comparison that I did with a number of 10x42 roof prisms. This was done by three different viewers in a half a dozen different outdoor locations, under varying light conditions. We all had pretty much the same impression that they were as good as anything...
