    Coolpix P6000 - self-timer and remote control?

Certainly does help, thanks Michael. A little annoying that it won't remember the timer delay but at least the r/c setting is good news. I have tried my Canon remote but that does not work, perhaps I have a remote for some thing else. I see the Nikon r/c costs about £10 but by the time I...

    Coolpix P6000 - self-timer and remote control?

I bought a Coolpix P6000 recently and I am irritated that the two second self-timer delay cannot be assigned to U1 or U2. Even more irritating is that after setting and taking a self-timer shot the P6000 resets the self-timer to off! It seems that the self-timer needs to be selected before...

    Lichen - I think

Hello all, I have asked for help with this elsewhere but without success. I presume this is a lichen? 1.5cm across, flat with upturned margins like a very small lilly pad, growing on felled Willow in Notts. Thanks Richard

    Unknown Polypore(?)

I recocognise that one! Yes, IMO, it is a Winter Polypore - it looks just like ones I have seen on deciduous wood. Don't know about growing on pine though. Are there any confusion species? Richard

    Congo Red

Just the job. Will have a delve around the web site later to see if anything else of interest. Thanks Gerry.

    Congo Red

One gram Congo Red powder that I had ordered arrived today but with no instructions and Brunel microscopes cannot help. I presume it will dissolve in distilled water as I don't remember it having an alcohol smell at school. Any idea how much water to add? Once made up how long will it last...

    Fungi ID Help Please

How about Psathyrella piluliformis? I think I can see a bit of veil remaining on the edge of the second from right. Richard R

    Spore microscopy

Hi Pete, Why didn't I think of that? I hadn't thought to try my digiscoping camera (I used it in the past but have moved on to a SLR camera). Using my Nikon Coolpix with microscope eyepiece in-situ works adequately and is quicker and easier than removing the m'scope eyepiece and focusing my...

    LBJ help please

Thank you Alan, your feedback is much appreciated. I think this is beginning to make some sense :) Happy New Year to you and all. Richard R.

    LBJ help please

Thanks Alan, I have teased out one of the gills from my Nuacora sp. and taken a couple of pics of the gill with my rather Heath Robinson set up. Could you/anyone tell me what I am looking at please? Both were taken at the same magnification and I am confused as to why the structure in A...

    LBJ help please

I took the attached a few days ago and can only come up with a tentative ID of Naucoria sp. Approx 20 individuals growing on twigs probably Willow or Alder. Cap: chestnut brown centre with cinnamon tinting toward margin and pale edge. Remnants of partial veil obvious but no ring apparent. D is...

    Cantharellus sp. and two unknown

Hi Leif, Probably a stupid question but how do I get spores from a jelly fungus - is it enough to place the fungus on a slide and wait? Richard R.

    TBJ - tall brown job

Additionally I presume the pink edge to the gills that you would expect to see on P. gracillis is more apparent than the light coloured edge seen on the attached? Thanks again Richard R
