Sexes are similar
Young birds are duller and browner, with a paler eye patch.
Distribution
Coastal eastern Australia (south-eastern Queensland to southern Victoria)
Taxonomy
Monotypic[1]
Habitat
Temperate rainforest and woodland, usually damp with a dense understorey, suburbs and gardens. Coastal forests and gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes insects, larva gleaned from leaves, especially eucalypt and nectar.
Breeding
The 1-3 eggs are incubated for 15 days; the young fledge after a further 15 days.
Vocalisation
Call: a repetitious tink, tink.
