Central America: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama
South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru

Taxonomy

Subspecies^[1]

There are 5 subspecies:

• C. p. borealis:

• Costa Rica and western Panama (western Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro)

• C. p. olivaceus:

• Central and eastern Panama (Veraguas to eastern Darién)

• C. p. tachirensis:

• Andes of extreme north-eastern Colombia and north-western Venezuela (Zulia, Táchira)

• C. p. pusillus:

• Northern and central Andes of Colombia to western Ecuador and northern Peru

• C. p. guapiensis:

• Coastal lowlands of south-western Colombia (Cauca)

Habitat

Humid forests and montanes.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mainly of insects.
