Distribution
South America: found in the montane forests of Costa Rica and extreme western Panama (Chiriqu¡).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Cloud forest and forest edges, above 4000ft.
Behaviour
Breeding
The female builds a broad, thick-walled saucer nest from moss and lichen, lined with plant fibres. The 2 eggs are incubated by the female for 15-16 days.
Diet
The diet includes insects which are hawked aerially.
Vocalisation
Call: loud whip.
Song: repetitive fred-reek-fear.
