Similar Species
Distribution
Breeds from India and Sri Lanka to Indochina. Winters to Africa and Arabia.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Formerly treated as subspecies of Eurasian Thick-knee.
Habitat
Breeds on dry sparsely vegetated open ground.
Behaviour
Mostly nocturnal.
Diet
The diet consists mostly of insects, small invertebrates and lizards.
Breeding
The nest is a bare ground scrape; 2-3 eggs are laid.
