Zimmerius parvus

Identification

  • Olive-green upperside
  • Wing feathers darker, each feather of greater coverts and flight feathers edged in bright green, but no wing bar
  • Head has dark grey crown, greenish auriculars, and relatively weakly patterned side with indistinct supercilium and broken eye ring
  • Underside pale with greyish wash to indistinct streaking
  • Bill short and black

Similar species

Guatemalan Tyrannulet seems to have browner upperparts, more contrasting head with more distinct supercilium, and longer wings.

Distribution

Eastern Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and extreme northwestern [[Colombia] (Chocó)

Taxonomy

This is one of the daughter species from the former Paltry Tyrannulet

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Lowlands to foothills in forest and edges to relatively open areas with trees and bushes.

Behaviour

Easts mistletoe berries supplemented with insects and other fruit.

Vocalisation

Call is a plain peeeu or peeer sound.
