Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies recognized:
- F. h. hodgsoni in the Himalayas and est to Burma and Thailand.
- F. h. sondaica further south in Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo.
Formerly placed in its own genus Muscicapella. Slaty-backed Flycatcher (Ficedula sordida) was formerly named Ficedula hodgsonii which can lead to confusion.
Habitat
Subtropical or tropical moist montanes.
