- facial skin bare, red
- legs pale grey

- overall (excluding tail) chestnut-brown with buff streaks and blotching, particularly on the underparts
- otherwise like male (including dark tail)

Taxonomy
Subspecies hoogerwerfi has limited plumage differences and may be elevated as "Hoogerwerf's Pheasant" (L. hoogerwerfi) [2]
Subspecies
Clements accepts 2 subspecies [1]:
- L. i. hoogerwerfi: "Hoogerwerf's Pheasant". montane forests in northern Sumatra
- L. i. inornata: montane forests in central and southern Sumatra
Habitat
Montane forests.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruit.
2 eggs are usually laid, and are incubated for 22 days.
