- Dark cinnamon brown
- Black bill and iris
Female 18-19cm
- Brown back
- Brownish-white underparts
The male Brown Songlark is the only Australian bird with fawn crown contrasted with sooty-brown face and breast.
Distribution
Australia (except most north and east coast regions): found in New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Pastureland and open grassy scrubland.
Behaviour
Flight
Legs dangle in flight.
Diet
The diet includes insects and seeds.
Breeding
The nests is a small depression in the ground; the female incubates the eggs and rears the young.
