Identification
40–43 cm
Shorter, more rounded crest with red and white (nominate) or red and black tips, no vertical white line before the eye, bluer wing coverts, greener tail and wholly bright yellow bill.
Similar Species
Very similar to Guinea Turaco.
Distribution

West Africa: found in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands: Bioko
Taxonomy
Genetically closer to Violet Turaco and Ross's Turaco than other green turaco's
Subspecies
There are two subspecies:
- T. m. macrorhynchus:
- Lowland rainforests of Sierra Leone to Ghana
- T. m. verreauxii:
Habitat
Gallery forest, both lowland and montane.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists almost entirely of fruit.
Vocalisation
As Guinea Turaco but spaces between "kow"s lengthen as if the bird was slowing down.
