Distribution
South-east Asia: found on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 4 subspecies[1]:
- L. i. rufa - "Malaysian Fireback"
- Malay Peninsula and Sumatra (except for range of macartneyi)
- L. i. macartneyi:
- South-eastern Sumatra
- L. i. ignita:
- Kalimantan (Borneo) and Banka Island (off south-eastern Sumatra)
- L. i. nobilis:
- Borneo (Sarawak and Sabah)
Habitat
Lowland forests.
Behaviour
Diet
It is known that they eat leaves and seeds and some insects, but there is little detailed information available.
Breeding
The clutch consists of 4-8 creamy-white eggs.
