Zeiss Conquest HDX 8x32 - Drop test from over eight meters - Video reportage (1 Viewer)

While I understand the purpose of the test, it was a bit painful to watch.

The experience was compounded by the fact that the binocular armor wasn't even wiped/cleaned in between the tests. That made it look like the binocular was unloved.

Hi, I wanted to leave it with the marks of the various falls on purpose. Now it is nice and clean in its case

Good!

Could you perhaps speculate on how much the objective caps contributed to the survival of the binocular?

A friend of mine recently sent me these images of his CHD 10x42 which he purchased new on release.
They haven't been "abused", just used by a keen birder in a range of habitats and weather conditions.
He demoted them to backup when he purchased a pair of HT's a couple of years ago, but they are his main pair currently whilst the HT are in for a service.
Aside for the slightly uneven rotation on the focus wheel, they are perfectly functional.

These look like they got a little too close to the campfire.
