Green cast......is like absinthe for me, a pleasure to drink but not to see.
Today i went to Madrid's largest photography store and I was playing with a Black SF 8X42 Serial number 4372227 for one hour and a half,I am lucky because I am a friend of the owner so I also took the binoculars to the street on a bright sunny day.
I just held the binoculars in my hand, the first thing I did was to look straight at the optical coatings, what a surprise they are no longer reddish like those of the eyepieces and present on first units.
Now are more like those on the HT but slightly different, check the pictures attached.
I was amazed so i tried to see the coatings from different angles and light, they are different.
Now the view is completely different, Much better without any significant trace of green or any other color cast and the transparency of view was amazing.
Definitely the intense green tint of first units gives muted colours and also affected the transparency of the image, also noticed for Roger vine of scope views.uk.
So they change the coating........Thanks Zeiss but what happens with the 8X25 ?
I also had the opportunity to try this model and after fist look to the front lenses again the strong reddish coating, of course strong green cast again.
All the best from Madrid.
