Creating a Bird ID Card - Advice Please

I have tried to create an ID card for easy to spot birds at El Gouna Park, a nature area whose main purpose is filtering the run off water from the nearby desalination plant. It is a popular place for families at weekends, but I feel there is little regard for nature and wildlife. The main...

    Cold in Cairo

I had a lovely day with an Ornithologist friend at an old Botanical Garden in the centre of Cairo next to Giza Zoo. Unfortunately they were funny about cameras and asking a lot of money for permission to use them, but when we started to search through the neglected areas I was so frustrated not...

    Butterfly swarms

A wonderful treat here in El Gouna on the Red Sea Coast of Egypt recently. Swarms of butterflies all over town. Busy distributing pollen. Honey Buzzards

This poor quality photograph I took yesterday as around 40 Honey Buzzards migrated south over the Red Sea Coast of Egypt. It is a juvenile but seems to have been through a shredder. Any ideas as to why the wings are damaged please? Birding friends here seem to think it is gunshots over Europe?!?

Buzzards Migrating over Egypt April 2019

These birds migrate at the same time as the storks over Egypt twice per year. I have never seen so many in one flock. Are they just buzzards please, or different types? These photos were taken beginning of April 2019 right over my roof terrace in El Gouna on the Red Sea Coast of Egypt...

Hello, I am Georgina, a British ex-pat living in El Gouna on the Red Sea coast of Egypt since 2004. We are blessed with some pretty special bird life here. The migration of storks twice a year is just wonderful to watch as they soar silently in the thermals overhead. And birds of prey too...
