    Here's an unusual question!

Good Morning, at least here in East Central Oklahoma! A question for my learned friends here at Birdforum: How do you all keep crows away from your feeders in the yard? When the crows arrive the birdfeed dis-appears in a hurry! And so do all other birds. Some kind of wire cage that permits...

Should I feed my Urban Foxes

There is a family of Red Fox's that hang out at the place in Tulsa, Okla. where I work. I always carry a sack of Purina Dog Chow in my pick-up and put out a little every morning for them. I don't see what harm it could do, really. I would think that the dog food would be better for them than...

Why do many other people think we are strange?

Another prospective here. Seems when we get in a conversation concerning bird watching we draw a small but interested crowd. Others appear to be interested in what my bird watching pals have to say and what we have added to our life lists. Know what is odd from my view? Being in a crowd of...

[B]What categories of birders are there?

I would guess I would have to be called a casual garden watcher. Just what ever comes along to the feeder interests me. Even the occational squirrel.

    Bino-scoping

What a great idea! I would love to have a quality binocular/digital camera, but even if I had the money, I wouldn't know what brand to decide on.

Any one ever heard of this?

We have had lots of luck with watermelon rind too. Not just the hummers. We left some watermelon rinds out back and the next morning at daybreak, the deer were fighting over their turn.

Any one ever heard of this?

Getting swamped by hummers! So many we can't keep the feeders full, so we put out a small bowl of nectar on the deck railing. First visitor was a red squirrell, followed by a tufted tit mouse and a carolina chickadee. All fighting for a turn at the nectar. Curious, we put two identical bowls out...

    Should I divorce????

Get togather with your sig. other and state your case. Bargain for birding time. One Sat. at the Mall, the next out checking on the birds. Try to ingage her in your pastime. Who knows? She may catch the birding fever too. Only thing better than adding to the life list is sharing the life list...

Saw some old friends last evening

Last evening just befor dusk, coming in from the town job saw a pair of bald eagles  that nested for years in a big ole oak tree behind the house down at the fishing pond. Their nest and the tree were destroyed last year by a tornado and we figured that we had seen the last of them...

    Must be Spring

Here in the Cimmeron Valley of East Central Oklahoma the plum trees have lost their blooms, the red buds are beginning to show signs of fading, the Dogwoods are looking good, and the hummers are coming back from their winter vacation  . Observed an odd thing today. We didn't have any...

    Mystery of disappearing seed feeder

Here in the Cimmeron Valley of Okla. it could have been most anything that carried off your feeder. Coyotes, Foxes, Coons, Possums, and Bob Cats, among many other types of critters. Most likely would have been a coon.

    What should I do?

We occationally have the same problem here. We usually just live with it till the offending cardinal starts brooding her eggs. We think it is a territorial thing and she is attacking her own reflection in the glass. You might try putting a table lamp up close to the window.

    Bird watching v mammal watching

I live in the Deep Fork River Basin of the Cimmeron Valley of Oklahoma here in the USA. So we have an abundance of all types of wildlife. We are blessed to live in what is called a bottom land hardwood forrest and spend much of our free time watching all types of animals and birds. We have both...

    Murder in my garden today.....

That's just what we call life. That's the way God made it work here on earth. The robin gets the worm, the hawk gets the robin, and as things like this go, the worms decindants eventually get the hawk. Maybe a cruell way to arrainge things, but that's the way life on the planet works. The...
