    Yorkshire Birding

I know you guys are all very responsible on here, but just wanted to remind everyone of the perils of Social Media and reporting of rare birds during the Breeding Season. The following link to the Rare Bird Network is an excellent guide, and serves as a reminder to us all which species should...

bird id, Gibraltar Point, Lincs, England 18.04.15

there is some variation in leg colour and brightness of the plumage too, but primary projection will always separate chiffchaff from willow warbler (chiffchaff having much shorter wings)

bird id, Gibraltar Point, Lincs, England 18.04.15

i wouldn't say the legs were particularly pale in this instance, and perhaps an artifact of the light? did you think the legs were pale in the field? primary projection is good for chiffchaff R

Help with IDs Kalbarrie W Australia

Id hazard a guess at all three; the BOP is Black Kite, white winged fairy wren & the terns to be Crested Terns. (I) can't be sure i'm afraid. Rob

    random bird ID, Leicester, UK

I dare say you won't get a positive identity, but something is telling me Jackdaw on the second image, of course with a form of leucism but I have nothing other than my gut telling me that

    Song or mistle UK

That's a mistle thrush. The head and nape is greyer than the back and spots are spots, rather than shaped like an arrowhead.

Unfortunately Keith, you're not alone. I can name at least 3 people who have cancelled their Direct Debit and their membership. For me, the organisation is unrecognisable from when I was in the YOC many years ago.

    Yorkshire Birding

Completely agree with you Ken. Fingers crossed it (eventually) works! I just hope that the debate highlights to the powers that be, just how many people use the site and how much damage all parties are suffering, let alone the wildlife. Rob

    Yorkshire Birding

Yes its too late now, but should be a reminder to us all (me included) that not every1 has good intensions. Id still rather not see any more scedule 1 birds being reported on here or other social media sites, policing that itself is impossible ;) In terms of policing st aidans, agree its...

    Yorkshire Birding

Thanks Steve, you beat me to it! With the current situation as it is with the RSPB stand off, anything on the Rare Breeding Birds Panel list, shouldn't be reported in the public domain at this time of year. Im against suppressing of birds, but id rather see any birds get a fair chance to breed...

    Bempton Cliffs/Flamborough Head

Definitly take the scope as you'll be mad not to call in at Flamborough whilst you're up there, where if something turns up, you'll probably need it! Personally I prefer Flamb by a country mile as you'll see all the seabirds from the headland, plus there will be more passerines and migrants. But...
