Big apperture (80-100mm) binoculars performance? Terrestrial viewing

Big aperture binoculars like the APM 100 ED semi-Apo, Garrett 100mm, General HI-T 100mm seem to be highly regarded by Astro entusiasts as a great value for Money and capable of good views, however most topics on Cloudynights are always from an Astro point of view, their terrestrial view...

Zeiss Photoscope 85 T FL vs Zen Ray 82 ED2

During the last week I had the oportunity to try a Zeiss Photoscope 85 T FL unit along with my Zen Ray 82 ED2 with the 20-60x zoom in the field, light was tricky and overcast almost all day long. A few friends had also tried the Zeiss earlier with very positive results, including a Kowa 774...

I only had a quick view of it from my car window, I heard no call when it flew away, unfortunetly. How often do meadows have such a facial pattern and bold white stripes on mantle! What do you guys think?

    Gull ID - Portugal

I would apreciate some opinions about this 3rd winter type Gull on 27th of January. Such a structure and head seems to me better for Herring than for YLG, very pale irides are obvious too, but it wasnt as pale as I would expect from an Herring, in fact in some ocasions I could swear there wasn´t...

Hello to all, This afternoon I spotted this Buzzard at Ponta da Erva, Portugal. But mixed features between vulpinus and rufinus, are making me wonder if it couldnt be an odd common. YLG or CG??

This gull has been seen in the first days of August in Portugal, there are some CG like features, like head shape, upright posture....although dark eyes are not so uncommon on immature YLG. Primaries were new to P5, and the tail band was still complete.

    Azorean YLG in Potugal

Last week this dark hooded 3cy YLG was seen at Espinho, Portugal. The dark hood, and faint hindneck stood out in the middle of other YLG. The majority of YLG, and a few hundreds have been seen, didnt show any trace of winter streaking heads yet, even in winter I have never seen such dark heads...
