I use the optics strap which has two connections. One I use on the camera the other is on the lens.

A word of warning if using the screw designed to retain a Manfrotto QR plate.

The ends of the wire loop fitted to the screw have minimal insertion into holes drilled in the screw head and the loop has been known to separate from the screw while tightening.
