Colours in CS5 and LR3 (1 Viewer)

Pigeon_Pete

Well-known member
I have noticed that when for example I put a frame around a photo in CS5 the colour looks different when I publish it on here.
I use LR3 and edit in CS5.

My colour settings are shown here, any suggestions as to where I am going wrong or is this a normal symptom ?

thanks

Chas

Before opening an image in Photoshop you could try selecting Edit > Colour Settings and then choose Europe Web/Internet. This uses sRGB instead of RGB as the colour space, so you can adjust the image's colours as necessary before posting it. If the image was in RGB before you open it you will probably get a dialogue box asking if you want to convert it to sRGB or not when it opens. In this case check Yes.

I've just looked at a couple of your recent images and they are sRGB so I'd imagine that somewhere in your workflow you are converting the profile which is fine.
I think the colour shift is down to using a non colour managed browser such as IE compared to the colour managed environment of Photoshop and Lightroom
The only thing you can do is use a browser such as Safari or Firefox (only partially colour managed) so that you see things the same as in photoshop.
From my experience it can depend on the website as well as the browser sometimes and obviously you have no control over how other people have set their kit up to view your images and so its an issue I've learnt no to lose any sleep over.
