Opticsplanet (I've never bought anything from them before, I know there are pros and cons on the net) is having a sale on the Pentax ED spotters. In particular, the price on the 80 ED-a with SMC zoom is :)

Not sure what the protocol on mentioning vendors is, so I will leave it at that.

That’s a really good scope - particularly at that price. Enjoy your purchase! Try it with a good fixed length astro eyepiece for an extra treat.

Yes, at $799 it is the lowest I have seen. If you are unhappy with the supplied zoom you could easily sell it and get $200-250. Bringing the body price down to the low $600 plus range and use the eyepiece zoom money to purchase one of the fixed power Pentax XW eyepieces which might still be on sale now at OpticsPlanet.
