A quick stroll round the reservoir on a rather dull and grey morning,hoping to find the Red Crested Pochard again produced 3 Goldeneye,3 Scaup and the two Blacknecked Grebes.No sign of the R.C.P
Hundreds of Coots,4 Pied Wagtails plus all the usuall suspects.
A Magpie with an unusually (to me anyway) green tail. Photo below.

The tail is black but with some special reflection properties. So, in a proper light, looks green. You can see similar effects at birds like drake malards etc.
 
Yes I have seen the effect of light on Mallards before,this struck me as being unusual as the day was particularly dull and grey with not much sunlight at all
