Hi. I'm zee, and I live full time in a small motor home, mostly in the southwestern states of the US. I tend to "boondock," that is, park for free on federal lands, without electricity, far from people, and that results in my seeing many birds, coyotes, elk, and at least tracks of mountain lions and bear.

This summer, I've been around Flagstaff, Arizona, in the ponderosa pine-covered mountains, and have seen a Western Tanager, all three types of bluebirds, a red-shafted flicker, a plain titmouse, an osprey (flying overhead--its wing tips were translucent white in the sunlight), a white-breasted nuthatch (which I swear made me somewhat nauseated to watch walk upside down), a hairy and an acorn woodpecker, a female pine grossbeak, and many more, almost all new birds for me.

I only have internet access every couple weeks, typically, so I won't post a whole lot, but I appreciate the forum being here for me.

Welcome on board

Hello Zee and welcome to BF o:D the best place for birders on the net ..
May you see many more lovely bird species and enjoy your wonderful lifestyle o:)

thank you all for the warm welcome!

Yes, I do love this lifestyle. I sold my condo and furniture, and gave away a packed 23-foot truck worth of stuff to a charity thrift store. I don't miss any of that junk, either! What I can fit in my 22-foot motor home is more than enough for me.

Two years of this life has turned me into a naturalist. I feel a bit like an 18th Century amateur scientist, observing the natural world and making notes and asking questions. Of course, I have better equipment (Galileo would have killed for my telescope!) and I can get on line and read real science to answer most the questions that arise from my observations.

Hello zee,
And another welcome to the Birdforum. Sounds like a very interesting lifestyle. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
