A rather slow morning today at our bird banding site here in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

We only banded seven birds and five of those were Gray Catbirds. The other two were a Swainson's Thrush and a Wilson's Warbler. Surely, better (more) birds will be moving through before too long!

First ever Sharp-shinned Hawk, banded today

We banded a bird this morning which I have never banded before. We had seen it near the mist nets a couple of times during the previous couple of weeks. We even thought that it might have been responsible for attacking two of the smaller birds caught in the mist nets.

* Photos taken by Karen Lyman (1 - 3) and Jack Hilsabeck (4), members of our bird banding team.
