But also, what is the broad-winged bird just left of the Y-b Kite? Does not looks so much like a crow to me?

Checked Arthur's Pass, which is probably the best chance; negative, unfortunately.

That's the only view that makes it look particularly gull-like though. Location listed as best site for Hobbies, and nothing else remotely resembling a gull around, despite following all the possible trails. It could be a gull scratching it's head in my linked pic, so maybe best left unconfirmed.

Anyway, having seen what feels like a million Turkey Vultures all over the Americas I finally found a good view (not a new bird).

Think they're all American Black Vultures? (also not new . . . :t:) Several definitely are, pale primaries visible. Dead armadillo beside the road, that's what they're after.

Edit: yes, all ABV, but a Turkey Vulture circling above them, though:

Odd... it was definitely on streetview as it was at the start of the trail. Ill try to find it again

EDIT... Ah now I see. I was just looking at continuous paths and assuming they were streetview as opposed to the circles meaning just someones picture. But now I see someone can great a whole segment along a trail or road.

Yep, google will lend out their cameras to other people who can do walks where they like. But they're often biased, deliberately setting out to get birds . . . :-@
