Cost of Repairing a Laptop? (1 Viewer)

Can anyone tell me roughly how much it would cost to repair a Laptop that has had it's screen broken? when I say broken I mean it has a large black patch covering about a third of the screen ( I think it was dropped!) the rest of it works fine and you can see the rest of the screen quite well. Or would it be as cost effective to buy a new laptop? Thanks.:t:

One of them how long questions, But i had a fujitsu one repaired new screen for around 120+vat if i remember right.

I took my Dell to a local laptop repair shop and he fitted a generic compatible sreen for about the same price or a bit less (can't remember exactly what he charged now) but the screen itself was £85. A Dell screen would have been about 50% more.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys! I should add that the laptop belongs to my mother in law but it was my daughter who borrowed and broke it, I don't think my ma in law knows it's broken yet.
