Can anyone recommend a travel company that can organise a relaxed weeks birding / game watching in Uganda. I am not looking for a huge bird list but would want to guarantee 4 or 5 species that appeal to me. Murchison falls might deliver them all.
This year we used geoddysey for Costa Rica who arranged everything but they don't do Africa and the internet produces too many options that are unverifiable.
Thanks Howard

Many Thanks to all three of you. I will make contact and read the trip report. My targets are eclectic but not rare. Carmine bee eater , skimmer and either of the two "winged" nightjars. The bee eater is as a result being taught at uni by Hilary Fry... the others equally random but personal choices. Will add in shoebill just because it's there.
Regards Howard

I'd recommend Birding in Paradise https://www.birdinginparadise.com/ I've met Johnnie a couple of times at the Birdfair, and in my honest opinion, you cannot go wrong with his company. As he is very popular, contacting him quickly would be advisable. If you need alternative references please DM.

We did a tour of Uganda with Real africa a few years ago including a few days at Murchison. Superb birds with the carmine BE, red-throated BE and shoebills being the best. Hopefully the shoebills are still present as, despite being "protected", we witnessed local fishermen and boys chasing them after them to scare them away as they saw them as competition for the fish.

Just north of Murchison there was trouble and it wasn't deemed safe to go any further north. Worth checking what the current situation is.
The skimmers aren't always there so need to check the timing if they are high priority.

Thanks Fooon for second contact. Have emailed them but no response yet. Deo has already suggested an itinerary which I and my friends are considering. Also thanks Tony for the cautions. Will double check on skimmers and do not plan on going anywhere except murchison falls.
Regards Howard

I just wanted to update this. As recommended we went with Deo a few weeks ago. He organised an ideal vehicle, accomodation that ranged from good to frankly, astonishingly good, as well as doing the guiding and driving. He was both knowledgeable and easy to get on with and adapted to our needs pretty well. In short I would definitely recommend him to anyone who does not want to self-drive in Uganda. Hopefully a trip report will appear from my colleague once time allows (my photos would not do it justice)
