Velbon Sherpa 200r for Nikon ED60 Fieldscope (1 Viewer)

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience of using this scope or a similar weight one with this tripod?

Most recommendations on the forum are for Manfrotto 190xb or the Velbon 600r but usually for larger / heavier scopes.

The Velbon 200r is quite a bit cheaper and some retailers have recommended it but is it a good option?

Thanks,

Emma

The tripod itself should be fine for a scope that size ,or a larger scope for that matter..The problem I see is that the Velbon Sherpa 200r comes standard with a three-way head that might not be as nice to use with a spotter as a fluid video head ..I have owned the EDIII A and is an amazing scope..Is not light for its size and is back heavy so stability and fluidity can be important issues to consider..Worth to get a nice head for it though...Enjoy a fantastic view..you got it!

Thank you very much for your help.

It always great to opinions from people who have used the scope in the field. Will look at putting it with the Velbon FHD-52Q Fluid Head as recommended by a few people on the forum. The pan handle on the Manfrotto 700rc2 I see recommended a lot seems very bulky / long in comparison, even though it is probably better made, I don't think it will suit me.
