Smallshire and Swash,
some of you will be aware that I don't like photo guides but I just have to say that this is superb.

Smallshire and Swash Andy? In my ignorance I thought you were using an old English expression along the lines of “Gadzooks and my giddy aunt”;)
Any reviews of the publication do you know?

How does it compare with Smallshire & Swash 'Dragonflies and Damselflies of GB & I' (2nd Ed) in the same series? This also a v good guide imo.
Thanks
Alan

I think if you liked that you will like this. The European guide has 360 pages compared with 230 pages for the latest 4th edition of the UK guide.

Obviously with so many more species to cover there are differences, so the biology section is not there & this guide is about adult ID so the larvae/exuvae ID is not there either but would make a cumbersome guide to include it here.

Excellent comparative ID sections of related species & full accounts with map, ID, behaviour & habitats.
