From time to time, the Bird Identification Questions& Answers forum in BirdForum Blasco-Zumeta digital guide arises as an important resource to resolve ID issues. This photographic online guide has gained respect among European birders for its quality. For many tears it was firstly hosted at Ibercaja (a regional bank) website, and finally uploaded in the own personal (free) site of the first author http://blascozumeta.com/

Last year the guide was finally published in paper by Tundra editions, first in Spanish and a little later in English (562 pages).

Althoug the scope of the guide is limited to birds found in Aragon, at Spain, I find several reasons for recommending it to English readers (and of course to all Spanish readers). You can check beforehand the quality of the work on the online version. The book includes all the images that have been lost as a result of broken links in the online version when changing sites. And finally and most important, getting it is a way of acknowledging and supporting the work made by these amateur authors that have provided for a long time a free online high quality resource for birding in Europe. Not only for on hand identification, but also for field an photo ID.
