What is your experience with this old stuff? I wonder if it is a good second scope for my rucksack, together with a monopod this seems to be the ideal combination for travelling.
How is the optical quality? It is worth eg. 300 £ at ebay?

Although birders do tend to follow fashion in buying items, in general you can judge how good something is by how regularly you see others using them - I've never seen one of these around.

I think the minimum focus-distance was very poor on them, as well

Spec:

Weight: 1000gms
Size: 220mm x 80mm
FOV: 36m @ 1000m
Shortest focus distance: 17m (55.7ft!!)

Optional: Motorised focusing unit
Later models: T* coated
