ED2 8x43 signs of wear inside tube (1 Viewer)

As my first binocular I bought a second hand (but like new conditiion) Zen Ray ED2 8x43.
I am satisfied with what is my first quality binocular but i found a little issue; inside the right tube i see two strikes, like signs of wear due to the inner lens rubbing. May this be an issue about the bin reliability?

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the ZRs but I wouldn't get unduly alarmed. You have probably worked out that they appear to be produced by the focusing lens assembly moving up and down internally. This inevitably means that there will be rubbing of metal/metal, metal/plastic or plastic plastic somewhere, in this case it's visable. I can't tell what materials are used but it looks more like a light polishing action than real abrasion and may be be quite acceptable. However, if it becomes worse, and the focus starts to stick, dust is being created by the rubbing, or a shiny surface gets exposed then these would be cause for concern.

Hopefully ZR owners can comment further.

The Zen Ed2 focus is achieved moving a front element back and fort and the area exposed under is heavily lubed..I am pretty sure those marks are the tracks that the lens assembly leaves on the grease..
