Canary Islands Jan/Feb 2014 (1 Viewer)

Hi,

We are thinking of a week in the Canary Islands early next year. Not for a birding holiday, but it would be good to fit a day or two in. We haven't even chosen an island yet! Any suggestions for spots or areas that we could incorporate would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Dave

I recommend Tenerife which has best general attractions and the most endemics (all but one). With a car and "Where to watch birds in Tenerife" you can see all endemics in two half-day birding trips.

I recommend Fuerteventura, less developed, less people, quiet roads, more exotic in its semi-desert setting and, to my opinion, the birds are better (the endemic chat, Houbara, etc). Of course, the obvious solution, to get all the birds of the islands is to split half on Fuerteventura and half on Tenerife.
