Hi
i'm giving some thought to a Pelagic trip in search of larger shearwater, better views of Skua and Petrel etc. I live in Essex and thought the nice folk at BF might have some hints and tips they'd like to share. Where to go? when to go? etc?

I have a couple of weeks off in mid September and was considering the Scilly Islands ? I did hear about a trip from Norfolk and Plymouth as well

any advise welcome as this is a new venture for me

thanks guys
B :)

Scilly would probably be your best option but not cheap. The skua and shearwater cruises off Flamborough might be an option depending what your targets are.

If you go on:

You can see what is seen each month from a number of ferry routes, though some of there are freight routes.

hi,
brian2 my best advice for doing a uk pelagic,is ttry and do one from penzance or the scilly's
late august early sept, preferrably one that goes to the continental shelf, you will literally be guaranteed wilsons, storm & some leaches, you will get the skuas + cracking views of the large shearwaters and sabines,
best of luck

much appreciated
i'm doing my homework and will be giving it a shot in September..fingers crossed
thanks for the reply
