Cd and Dvd drive problems (1 Viewer)

both my cd and dvd drives have never worked properly, takes ages reading, sometimes cannot read things, wont eject with the eject button could this be the computers problem rather than the actual cd drives.

Sounds odd. To be honest, if both of the drives are playing up I would guess that there is something up with the machine. Check to make sure that everything is plugged in as it should be. The interesting thing is that they are not ejecting. Do you have lots of extras on your machine (sound cards, video cards, tv cards, any other PCI stuff) ? It could be that you need a new power supply.

did you install them yourself or were they already in the PC when you bought it? what brand of players are they and what brand of PC, what operating system are you running and what software are you using to browse the discs? Are they commercially burnt CD / DVD's or self / consummer burnt discs?
Regards
Steve
