Seen at Cooley Peninsula early June last year, spring plumaged sanderling? I just think the bill looks a little on the thin side!

Yep, summer Sanderling - they're typically the last Calidris to migrate north (late May to early June) as their high arctic breeding grounds don't thaw until well into June. Only a handful of pairs breed as far south as Svalbard, most are even further north.
