Birdguides are reporting that the putative third summer Caspian Gull present last Tuesday has been reidentified as a second summer Yellow-legged Gull. Does this bird account for all subsequent sightings or have we had a genuine Caspian Gull in the last few days?

I spoke to JHWR re the bill pattern of his bird he had Tuesday. It did have red and black in the bill,so not the same bird.Would be interesting to have comments on Andy's photos.

At the half-way point in August the month's list has staggered to a mere 83 species (unsurprising given the conditions and my inability to log into BirdTrack, hence some of the commoner gaps). Meanwhile the year list advanced to 137 species thanks to this week's Caspian Gull. Potential additions for the remainder of August include:

Garganey, Pintail, Pochard, Red Kite, Osprey, Marsh Harrier, Avocet, Oystercatcher, Whimbrel, Ruff, Greenshank, Little Stint, Ringed Plover, Wood Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper, Redshank, Spotted Redshank, Common Gull, Arctic Tern, Black Tern, Sandwich Tern, Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Collared Dove, Skylark, Yellow Wagtail, Wheatear, Dunnock, Wren, Nuthatch, Jay, House Sparrow, Chaffibch, Yellowhammer

Female Chaffinch near the feeding station on the North Moors Plantation this afternoon.:t:

Juvenile Kittiwake at the Flashes at 6:45am as per Andy P - seen from Cuckoo Hide but then flew towards the third Flash and out of sight (for the moment)

Update: still on view at 7am from the Avocet Hide
