Re:- Beginner binocular suggestions.
A few weeks ago I posted lookning for suggestions on binoculars suitable for a beginner at around £150
I visited my local nature reserve which had an optics shop (RSPB Vane Farm), and I have treated myself to a pair of "RSPB" branded 8x42 Waterproof Porro prism bins for £159.99
I did try similar sized roof prisms (Viking Vistron 8x42 ), but as soon as I looked through the porro prism bins I saw a much brighter image - luckily it was quite a dull day today so a good day for testing the binoculars.
I also tried 10x42 bins, but found the narrower field of view and magnification of hand shakes a little off putting.
Pleased as punch with the bins, spent a good hour or so at the hides giving them a thorough test. Work well with the eye cups twisted down with my glasses on, also work well for me with glasses off and eye cups extended.
I'm hoping to have many years pleasure from them!
