Hello All,

I am going to be in Carrigart north of County Donegal, Ireland for a few days visiting from Newcastle upon Tyne. Can anyone advise as to some places to go for the purpose of birding please?

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen

The strand directly behind Carrickart village is worth a look.
Your close enough to Fanad Head if you take the new bridge across. Good flocks of Eider, Long-tailed Ducks and should be a few white-wingers knocking around.
The lake at Dunfanaghy to the west is good for wildfowl.
On the other side of Letterkenny you have Big Isle, Blanket Nook and Inch Island Lake and Levels on the east side of Lough Swilly.
Also Lough Fern south of Millford can be good for diving duck although numbers tend to be low at this stage of the winter.
Well worth getting that book.
