We saw this cute little Chickadee, and a few of his brothers and sisters, perched in the tree near our garden. Out in the world for the first time!

    Sketchbook - Black Capped Chickadee

I'm often tempted to ignore feeder birds while I'm out birding, since I already have a front-row seat to their antics without the bins and heavy clothes. But birds at a busy feeder don't act the same as birds in the field. For one, they don't preen!

A nice closeup of a chickadee I got a little earlier in the week.

    Ont he edge

This photo was taken right after our first snowfall. This chickadee was feeding and decided to land on the edge of this branch. I was able to capture some of the snow falling from the branch as the chickadee watched is landing.

    Snow Bath

These little Black-capped Chickadees would dive belly first into the snow on the White Pine boughs and then proceed to bathe or "dust" with the soft snow!!! It was fun to watch!

Chickadee posing. They move so quickly that I must accept whatever pose I can catch them in.
