    Fieldfares

Ours are away since November. A flock of these is now here for a week or so. I believe they are on migration from Northern Europe to Southern Europe. Pretty late maybe, I do not know, but they are way more shy than the ones that breed here. Above zero in the next days, maybe Munich is the new...

Whadda you mean "Leave some for the Waxwings"?

We were here first! We're leaving these for ourselves, doncha know. Still, they have (so far) left quite a few for the Waxwings. I've only seen the Fieldfares here on two days (touch wood). These shots are all from day 2, and as you can see there were a lot of berries still on the shrub towards...

    I think I'll have another

Apparently there are plenty of red berries around the neighborhood. A large flock of Fieldfares landed in the neighbors' birch, but only half a dozen of them came for the crabapples. The rest went either to the north edge of the garden for windfall apples or flew over the house and (presumably)...

And the winner this year is ...

Every year I wait with bated breath to see which species will come for the mini-crabapples by the porch. Who will come first and empty the shrub? Will it be the Fieldfares? Or will it be the Waxwings? And when? Will they arrive while there's still good light and Fall colors? This year, the...

But fearless. I followed this kid following the parents around the cemetery, but when the feeding moment arrived they ducked behind a headstone for privacy.

Hey! I'm cute too, ya know!

Yes, you are. But that's probably not what you're saying, is it? You're just calling out to be fed. OK. Now to do some browsing. I may have to finish tomorrow. It's getting late already.

    Hello from Newfoundland Canada.

Hi Birdforum peeps. I’m Donna from foggy Logy Bay, Newfoundland. It been since April 3rd our weather has been bad and not much birding going on. I did spend 2 hours looking for a Ruff that accidentally came here at an old racetrack in the Goulds, part of city of St.John’s. We did get lucky to...

    Winter visitor

I'd been hearing a Fieldfare for several days around our complex, but hadn't managed to spot him. Then suddenly there he was in my neighbour's tree, right outside my window. A waif from the bad weather. Quality not great as this was a quick grab before he flew and also a TTTW shot.
