Not sure whether this was a female or a juvenile. They stayed deep in the woods for the most part. I saw this one (and a few others) at the feeder station, tucked deep in shrubbery behind the visitor center.
  6. Lesser Goldfinches at Feeder

    Lesser Goldfinches at Feeder

All right: so I know this photo isn't great. Sorry about that. I took it from inside our rig, and I am by no means a professional photographer. The feeders are five feet away from the window, which is tinted, so the birds can't see me and my inadequate digital camera taking aim at them. This is...
  7. Female Lesser Goldfinch

    Female Lesser Goldfinch

Not my best quality shots today. Just posting real quick before I hit the sack and thought I'd show some of the variety of what I've been seeing here. I think I'm at 35 species so far, including one lifer. Today's addition to the list was a flock of Cedar Waxwings. But back to this post: I've...

This little guy was showing his colors to me as he was flaring his wings but I missed both of them spread out.

The blooms on my Russian Sage plant must be just right because these goldfinches are eating them as fast as they can.

This small table-top birdbath on our front deck is constantly in use by most of my birds throughout the day. I think this $5 garage sale find was one of my favorite purchases.

    Lesser Goldfich (Bright Female)

The dry conditions have seen a reduction in the numbers of these birds in my area.

    Peek-a-boo!

Pausing in Copenhagen airport on my way home. Time enough to go out and see the new aquarium, or maybe bird the marshes before my flight home, but first have to get organized, check my luggage, change shoes, fill drinks bottles ... and post. Here's another shot from the goldfinches in that...

    Birds and bees

Pausing in Copenhagen airport on my way home. Time enough to go out and see the new aquarium, or maybe bird the marshes before my flight home, but first have to get organized, check my luggage, change shoes ... and post. One of my usual routes to or from town in Sonoma took me past a garden...

    Sunflower Caff

Hi BF friends. Finally made it in to Sunflower Caff again, this time with daughter and sister along for lunch. Not much time, and haven't been keeping up with browsing because sister has Mom's computer room as her bedroom the past few days and there are now 4 of us sharing the computer in spare...
