    This pretty bird has to be an escapee. Imagine my surprise when I turned from photographing the recent returnees to Southbay and saw this beautiful parakeet perched on a post. It let me get very close but would not come to my hand and flew away. Imperial Beach, CA, 09-10-04, CP 5700 1.5X.

    These large paraketes have taken up permanent residence in South Florida. They seem to like Seagrape trees. They congregate in flocks in them.
