    Greater spotted woodpecker and young

Taken from a portable hide in Pentyrch woods near The leaves from the surrounding trees made it quite dark in the woods and branches kept blowing in front of the subject. I had previously spotted this nest whilst out walking. The sound of the young is something of a giveaway to the location...

    Dalmatian Pelicans photography

Dalmatian Pelicans are some of the exotics of Eastern Europe. Their tame behaviour at some places is very welcome by photographers who are always willing to enjoy these marvelous birds. Anyone willing to photograph them can just drop me a line.

    Rough-legged Hawk

This appears to be a young Rough-legged. They are a large hawk who happens to like the cold climate here in Central Oregon. This one was hunting a pasture down the road in our rural community. This and the Ferguson Hawk are (I am told), very closely related and both get confused.
