    Last week a flock of some 50 Rainbow Lorikeets were feasting on the flowers of a gum tree in a neighbours garden. This family then came to my feeder and birdbath.

    This beautiful bird is nevertheless an unwelcome recent introduction from eastern Australia to the southwest, as it competes with natives, particularly for nesting holes. Rainbow Lorikeets have become well established in the Perth metropolitan area.
