  1. About dang time

    About dang time

I haven't seen one of these little buggers in a long time. It's been 4 years since one sat still for me. Thankfully, I had the camera in my hand when I spotted it.
  2. Golden Crowned Kinglet

    Golden Crowned Kinglet

Golden Crowned Kinglet. It's been periodically flitting around my yard for the last few days. I'm firmly convinced this is one of the world's hardest birds to get a photo of with a bridge camera. It just never pauses! This isn't a great shot of one, but the way things are going for me with this...
  3. Golden Crowned Kinglet

    Golden Crowned Kinglet

These guys are driving me crazy. I have at least two of them showing up in the yard daily, but it's always very early in the morning or very late in the afternoon. Hence the light is always poor when they're here and I can't get a clear photo of them. (Bridge camera = lousy low light...

    LIFER!- Golden Crowned Kinglet

Possibly a Golden Crowned Kinglet? I saw this bird flitting around on our ash tree but paid no attention as I thought it was just another of the dozens of chickadees that come to the yard. However there was something about it that made me take a second look, and I realized it was a different...

These guys hardly ever stop and that's why you won't see me post one very often. :)

    Royalty

A wee kinglet was bustling about in this shrub, giving me brief poses now and then. I managed this one clear shot.
  10. Golden Crowned Kinglet

    Golden Crowned Kinglet

Golden-crowned kinglet, Regulus satrapa apache, female. Distinguished from the male by lack of orange in crown, from the other subspecies by yellowish-olive back.

    Golden crowned kinglet

It has taken a while to get some better photo's of this little bird. They feed on the apples along with several chickadees and junco's. They also seem to stay around the evergreens too.
  14. Golden Crowned Kinglet

    Golden Crowned Kinglet

This little bird was hanging around some chickadees. It does not stand still at all just moves from branch to branch feeding. Hope to get a better picture soon but it felt really good to get out in the woods today before the rain came.
  15. Pure Joy

    Pure Joy

Pure joy: waking up, looking out the kitchen window to find two Golden-crowned Kinglets in my crabapple tree, getting my camera and shooting 70 photos of the 3 inch (OK, 8 cm) beauties through a small opening in the front door! Then sharing one of those with you--that, my friend is pure...

    It's a bit busy

But it was only one of two shots I was able to grab of this micro bird.

    Golden-crowned Kinglet

This little fellow didn't stay still for long but I managed to get a better image than the one I had. Paul photo life list, http://rustyblades.smugmug.com/Nature-Flora-Fauna/Birds/myBirds-of-the-World/15414769_8c3shM#!i=2143504225&k=Z43wKdX

15 degree C, so pretty warm day. Stood by the side of the bush waiting for it to come up to the top for a shot. But instead, he decided to go down to the dich for a good bath.

    Orange Top Knot

This is from a couple years ago. I know I've been hearing a few at times. Their not showing themselves. So I cheated alittle.

If there's enough of them around then you've got a shot, otherwise forget it.
