Got this while waiting for a Mountain Bluebird to get closer. Just begining to realize the diversity of sparrows found in various habitats. A Newby discovery! Plus I had a laugh at the latin name.
The Savannah sparrows are definitely on territory now here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Time to sing! This bird is perched on a Coyote bush (Baccharis pilularis).
