One of 20 + species that visited a leaking tap and sprinkler under a tree at a camp pool. It rained the next day and most of the birds were absent. Right spot right time! Very hard to get all this bird in a shot focused on the head. Rapid focus point reset essential.

This is a young male. Adult breeding males show more of a crest, have a bright blue orbital eyering, an electric blue upper mandible and very long ribbon streamers to the tail. Females resemble young males but usually lack white wingbars and show no real evidence of tail streamers. This guy's...

Watching the male in flight was an amazing experience, his long tail made his swoops for insects look like an acrobatic feat! His wife was more obliging for a photo opportunities though!

This is a young male of the white morph. We came across a beautiful streamer-tailed adult male in a mixed-flock feeding party which glowed in the forest gloom; sadly he was too fast for me to get pictures of.

Brown Snake Eagle and African Paradise Flycatcher

This picture was taken using the camera's maximum telephoto setting. We had no idea the flycatcher was there until we looked at the image later. The little female flycatcher (female because of short tail) had been mobbing the big raptor, so this intriguing picture resulted from pure blind luck...
